On April 12, voters in the Lamoille North and Addison-Rutland supervisory unions will weigh in on their school district consolidation plans.
Five school district mergers around the state received overwhelming support on Town Meeting Day.
Peter Ingvolstad, chairman of the Lamoille North Act 46 Committee, says in public meetings leading up to the vote the committee tried to both present information and address concerns from undecided voters.
"As we were writing the articles of agreement we tried to take every issue that we were hearing and deal with those issues," he says. "So that was a big part of the process for us."
Under Act 46, schools that are now governed by a single board join a unified district. The newly-formed district board then oversees a larger number of schools.
Districts that are able to get a positive school merger vote before July 1 receive tax incentives under the Agency of Education's accelerated plan.
An Agency of Education spokeswoman says other districts around the state are still working on their merger proposals, and there might be other votes before the July 1 deadline.
Under the next phase of the Act 46 timeline, districts receive a smaller incentive and have until July 1, 2017 to have their plans approved by voters.
