The Vermont Department of Labor says the state’s seasonally adjusted monthly unemployment rate held steady at 3.4 percent in February.
"Seasonal adjustment" is an effort to remove seasonal fluctuations to get a clearer picture of employment trends.
The "unadjusted" unemployment rate in Vermont’s 17 labor markets ranged from 2.6 percent in Burlington/South Burlington, which includes all of Chittenden County and adjacent towns in four other counties, to 7.5 percent in Derby.
The Derby labor market encompasses more than a dozen towns in Orleans and Essex Counties.
Nationally, the unemployment rate was 4.9 percent in February.
