Lynn Boggs, CEO of Porter Medical Center in Middlebury, resigned on Friday. The community hospital had made recent changes to address budgetary problems.

The CEO of Porter Medical Center in Middlebury resigned Friday.

Lynn Boggs told staff in an email that she submitted her resignation to the board of directors, adding that it was a challenging time for the organization and she wished them well.

The hospital recently eliminated eight registered nursing positions, and has restructured its 12 physician offices, and merged an OBGYN office with a certified nurse midwife practice, in an effort to cut costs. Porter Medical Center has lost $11 million since 2012. In recent weeks some community members and hospital staff had expressed concerns about the changes and how they will affect patient care.

Boggs became CEO of Porter Medical Center in August 2015, replacing James Daily, who retired after leading the hospital for 31 years.
