National Life Group Reports 2015 Earnings

National Life Group reported total revenues of $1.8 billion in 2015 and net income of $109 million.

In 2014, the company’s net income was $144.3 million.

National Life's core business is life insurance, but it also offers annuities, mutual funds and other financial services.

Core earnings were $189.9 million in 2015 compared to $193.8 million the previous year.

“Once again we had an exceptional year,” CEO Mehran Assadi said in a statement.

Assadi said life insurance sales have doubled since 2011.

The number of customers served by the company rose from 796,000 at the end of 2014 to 829,000 as of Dec. 31, 2015.

The Montpelier-based company has just over 1,000 employees nationwide, including approximately 780 in Vermont.

The company says employment remained relatively unchanged from 2014 to 2015.
