Police have identified a human skeleton found near the side of a road in Goshen as the remains of Denise Hart, a 25-year-old woman who went missing in January.
“Evidence was located and collected at the scene and the death of Denise Hart has been ruled a homicide,” Vermont State Police Captain J.P. Sinclair said in a release about the case.
Hart went missing Jan. 25, and the next day police found the car she’d been driving fully engulfed in flames parked at a fishing access area in Cornwall. At the time, police said there was a “strong indication of foul play” and sought information from the public.
Hart’s skeleton was found Dec. 22 along the edge of Gap Road in Goshen. Police haven’t released any information about how or why Hart was killed, or about who may have killed her.
