Do you dowse? If so, the Tunbridge Town Forest Committee wants to hear from you!
This year marks the centennial anniversary of the municipal forest law that allowed for the creation of Vermont's town and city forests. A coalition of environmental organizations is promoting a year-long celebration, with events at various municipal forests around the state. The Tunbridge Town Forest Committee is hosting its local centennial celebration Saturday, June 6, starting at 10 a.m.
The Tunbridge committee is creating a map of its town forest, and the group would like to include water sources on that map. To that end, the committee is inviting the public, and especially dowsers and aspiring dowsers, to come find water in the forest.
"All are invited to explore our town forest, and help committee members find the many springs and wells that used to serve village homes and businesses," an event announcement states. "We will be exploring the area on the hill behind the houses on the east side of Main Street. Dowsers and aspiring dowsers are particularly invited to help."
Those interested in joining the celebrations should meet at the Town Forest Drew Lot, on Drew Road.
