13 Years Later, The Biggest Heist In Vermont History Remains Unsolved

The Berkshire Armored Car Company terminal in Rutland was victim to the biggest robbery in Vermont history in 2002 when a lone gunman stole $1.9 million. Thirteen years later, no one has been charged in the case.

Early one snowy January morning in 2002, a lone man with a gun robbed the Berkshire Armored Car Company terminal in Rutland. The crime netted the perpetrator $1.9 million, and 13 years later, despite a number of leads, no one has been charged in the case. The daring theft was the biggest robbery in Vermont history.
Now, after sifting through newly released documents, reporter Brent Curtis has been writing about the case in a series in the Rutland Herald. Curtis spoke with VPR's Mitch Wertlieb.
