Wasfia Nazreen is a woman on a mission: in her home country of Bangladesh, she works in the non-profit sector to help marginalized girls. And she’s shining a spotlight on that work by climbing the highest peak on each continent. She started the Bangladesh on Seven Summits Foundation to raise awareness for her cause, and that earned her a spot in a U.S. State Department project called the Global Sports Mentoring Program. Nazreen spent a month this fall in Vermont under the mentorship of the president of Burton Snowboards, Donna Carpenter. VPR’s Jane Lindholm talked with Nazreen and Carpenter about the program.
