Can you tell which one is male and which one is female? That's information the state would like to know about these turkeys.

If you see a bunch of turkeys in a field, the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife would like to hear about it!  Vermont Edition talks to Amy Alfieri, Wild Turkey Project leader at the Department of Fish and Wildlife, about the state's wild turkey brood survey and what info the department needs, how to register the collected info, how it will be used and general idea of how the turkey population is doing in Vermont.

Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
Jane Lindholm is the host, executive producer and creator of But Why: A Podcast For Curious Kids. In addition to her work on our international kids show, she produces special projects for Vermont Public. Until March 2021, she was host and editor of the award-winning Vermont Public program Vermont Edition.
