Administration Says Document Clears State Of Exchange Accusations

A top official in the Shumlin administration says a 38-page document (PDF) disproves allegations by an anonymous whistleblower that cast new shadows last week over the state’s health insurance exchange.

A story in Newsweek published last Friday alleged that contractors snowed state officials last July by faking a “live interface” between the state’s exchange, called Vermont Health Connect, and the federal data hub. The online magazine’s source of the information was a “person familiar with the event who declined to be named.”

Commissioner of Vermont Health Access Mark Larson denied the charge last week, and provided VPR with a 38-page document that he says shows affirmation of successful connections during the general time period the Newsweek article said the contractor, CGI, had faked the demonstration.

Larson has asked Newsweek to make a number of corrections to the story.

The Vermont Statehouse is often called the people’s house. I am your eyes and ears there. I keep a close eye on how legislation could affect your life; I also regularly speak to the people who write that legislation.
