A Vermont state medical examiner says a 22-year-old off-duty sheriff's deputy from Barre who died in a traffic accident apparently suffered a heart arrhythmia.
Michael Zemanek was an Orange County sheriff's deputy and part-time officer with the Northfield Police Department.
Police say that one minute before midnight on July 31st Zemanek's south-bound car crossed the median, hit the guardrails in the northbound lane and then re-crossed the median, coming to rest along the guardrails in the south-bound lane.
Zemanek was a Norwich University graduate originally from Connecticut. He was honored in memorials in Barre and Northfield.
