A financially strapped community arena in Vermont is feeling some financial relief after receiving an anonymous $50,000 donation.
The Woodstock Union Arena general manager says a $50,000 check arrived in the mail Friday with a note to use the money wherever it was most needed.
The check came at the right time as the arena — which doesn't receive any public funding — continues to struggle financially.
Arena board president Ginny Eames tells the Valley News the gift shows there's community support behind the facility.
Union Arena is located at the Woodstock Union High School and is managed by a nonprofit corporation. The arena is an ice rink for most of the year and also serves as a sports and events center.
