Two St. Albans men have been sentenced for assault and robbery and unlawful mischief connected to the death of a Swanton man whose body was found in the St. Albans City pool more than a year ago.
Police say 22-year-old Muir Davis died after an attack by Travis Bugbee and Brian Ross. Authorities say the pair lured Davis to the pool, beat and robbed him, stealing pills and his wallet, including EBT food stamps card.
The 24-year-old Ross was sentenced on Thursday to eight to 15 years. Bugbee was sentenced to five to 12 years.
Bugbee pleaded guilty in May; Ross pleaded guilty in June.
Davis' EBT card was later sold. Three other people, including a mother and son, accused of buying and using the card, have accepted plea deals.
