Vermont is one of a few states in the nation starting a pilot program to help beginning farmers get started with agricultural enterprises. The Young Farmer Individual Development Account provides business education and matched savings accounts to new farmers. Vermont is the only state to tailor this program specifically to youth- farmers between the ages of 14 and 21.
Vermont Edition spoke with Becky Frye, who is one of 25 young farmers from Vermont participating in the program run by University of Vermont Extension.
