Vermont’s health care exchange has released details of the health insurance plans that will become available when the market place opens in October.
Vermont Health Connect will offer 18 plans and will offer financial assistance to help cover the cost.
Governor Peter Shumlin said Vermont is first in the nation to finalize the premiums and coverage.
"They aren’t that different than the plans that one could find in the current insurance market, but the good news is you’ll find it on one single website, it will be easy to navigate. You’ll be able to match it with subsidies from the federal government," Shumlin said.
Shumlin says the plans are competitive with current insurance options available now.
All plans have the same benefit package but have different premium levels based on varying amounts of out of pocket costs. Preventative care, mental health services, and dental and vision coverage for children are included in the benefit package.
A family of three making $60,000 per year would qualify for financial assistance and pay about $340 per month for the plan with the highest deductibles. A single person making $35,000 per year would pay $230 per month.
Vermonters will be able to buy coverage through the exchange starting in October.
