A Vermont non-profit organization has been recognized by the U.S. State Department with one of six 2013 EcoPartnerships for its work with a Chinese group.
The partnership between the Montpelier-based Institute for Sustainable Communities and China's National Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation Center recognizes their new Low-Carbon Champions Alliance program.
The program will connect a broad group of local leaders throughout China so they can share successes and best practices in their communities in both countries.
The organizations have been working closely on low-carbon development issues in China.
In April they co-hosted a forum on low carbon transformation and urban development in Shanghai. The forum brought together more than 120 urban leaders, managers, academic experts and others from across China.
