There are new stadium lights around a Vermont high school athletic field, but it's not clear when the school will be able to use them.
The lighting system at Bellows Falls Union High School was made possible by a $250,000 donation from the estate of Alvin Southwick, who was active in the Bellows Falls American Legion baseball program for many years.
But permits for the lights are not in order.
In the latest development, the school district must wait for a state administrator to determine if the whole project is exempt from the regulations of an Act 250 land-use permit. If not, such a permit will be required to turn on the lights.
The Westminster Zoning Board also sent back the district's application, saying it was incomplete.
