A Vermont woman who got a face transplant six years after her husband attacked her with industrial strength lye is returning to the hospital where the surgery occurred to sign copies of a book about her experiences.
Carmen Blandin Tarleton, who is 45 and from Thetford, had successful face transplant surgery in February after dozens of other surgeries to repair her injuries.
On Tuesday, she'll return to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. But it won't be for surgery this time. Instead, she'll be signing copies of her book "Overcome: Burned Blinded and Blessed."
Tarleton's then husband, Herbert Rodgers, is serving a prison term of at least 30 years for his conviction in the attack.
