Officials Urge Caution Against High Water Levels, Road Damage

The flash flooding and heavy rains from yesterday are prompting cautions from emergency officials: Water levels in Lake Champlain rose to 99.5-feet, 6 inches from flood stage.  The National Weather Service has not indicated that flood stage is imminent, but property owners and those with other interests on the lake should monitor lake levels, according to VT Emergency Management.

Emergency crews were responding last night to some troubled areas where rain had left standing water or washed out some portions of road. Route 302 in Berlin was a trouble spot, and Route 108 in Stowe by Top Notch had a road washed out crews were working on both sides of Route 108 at Smugglers Notch.

A graduate of NYU with a Master's Degree in journalism, Mitch has more than 20 years experience in radio news. He got his start as news director at NYU's college station, and moved on to a news director (and part-time DJ position) for commercial radio station WMVY on Martha's Vineyard. But public radio was where Mitch wanted to be and he eventually moved on to Boston where he worked for six years in a number of different capacities at member station WBUR...as a Senior Producer, Editor, and fill-in co-host of the nationally distributed Here and Now. Mitch has been a guest host of the national NPR sports program "Only A Game". He's also worked as an editor and producer for international news coverage with Monitor Radio in Boston.
