Sen. Bernie Sanders is standing alone with his "no" vote against billionaire business executive Penny Pritzker's confirmation by the Senate to become secretary of the Commerce Department.
The Senate on Tuesday approved Pritzker's nomination by a vote of 97-1.
Sanders say the country needs a secretary of commerce who will represent the interests of working Americans and their families, not simply the interests of large corporations.
He says Pritzker served on the board of one of the most anti-worker hotel chains in this country, the Hyatt chain. Sanders feels some of the workers were unjustly fired for trying to form a union and Pritzker chose not to defend the workers.
Pritzker is a long-time friend of President Barack Obama and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for his presidential campaigns.
