All three members of Vermont's congressional delegation now have written letters supporting the efforts of immigrant activist Danilo Lopez to avoid deportation and stay in the United States.
The 23-year-old Lopez has been ordered to leave the country by July 5, nearly two years after a car in which he was a passenger was stopped for speeding. At that time, he and his cousin were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
The men were among an estimated 15-hundred migrant farm workers who have been working on Vermont dairy farms but who are in the United States illegally.
Since the speeding stop, Lopez has become active in a successful bid to allow those farm workers to get Vermont driver's licenses.
