The University of Vermont College of Medicine is planning to name its Medical Education Center after a graduate who has helped more than 1,100 medical students through school.
The building will be named for Robert Larner, a Burlington native who graduated from the University of Vermont in 1939 and the medical school in 1942.
Larner, who is now 95, lives in California with his wife Helen.
In 1985, the Larners established an endowment fund that provides financial support to medical students. In addition they recently committed $1 million for a "Team-Based Learning Classroom" and $300,000 for cardiopulmonary simulators.
