Lake Champlain and the recreational opportunities it affords are expected to be topics as park management professionals around Vermont gather for a conference in Burlington.
Tuesday's gathering at the city parks headquarters on Pine Street will be looking at a variety of the ecological challenges facing the lake and the best recreation management techniques to respond to them.
An estimated 500,000 people visit parks along Lake Champlain each summer. More than 200,000 of those visits occur at the 13 state parks on the lake.
Lori Fisher, executive director of the Lake Champlain Committee, says participants hope to protect water quality and enhance the recreational experiences on, in and around the lake.
