The Senate passed over more controversial items on its agenda Wednesday morning, including a bill that would allow child care workers to unionize and the end-of-life bill that has resulted in several stalemates. Those bills were likely to be taken up later in the afternoon.
Also, a bill that would decriminalize the possession of one ounce or less of marijuana comes up for final approval in the Senate.

In the House, lawmakers are debating a slew of amendments to a sweeping campaign finance bill given preliminary approval on Tuesday that would cap donations to Super PACs at $5,000, despite the prospect of a federal lawsuit.
One amendment proposed by Rep. Will Stevens, I-Shoreham, would exempt independent candidates from the restrictions. House Speaker Shap Smith has said the state can defend the limit on donations against legal challenges.
