The Vermont Agency of Transportation says a large sinkhole will keep the northbound passing lane of Interstate 89 closed.
The agency says the sinkhole was discovered Tuesday between Richmond and Waterbury. The lane was closed while crews repaired the road.
Initially, the Transportation Agency said repairs would take several hours. However, late Tuesday afternoon, officials said the lane would remain closed overnight and into Wednesday.
Police urged motorists to be patient and drive with caution.
