Group Gives 5 Connecticut River Grants

A nonprofit group that works to protect the Connecticut River watershed says it's helping to fund five water improvement projects in Vermont and New Hampshire.

The $7,550 for the projects was raised through a "crowd-funding" website that links people, businesses and organizations to conservation projects that improve water quality, fish and wildlife habitat, erosion control, and access.

Andrew Fisk of the Connecticut River Watershed Council says the projects will result in meaningful improvements in water quality, habitat and the overall health of the Connecticut River watershed.

The Vermont projects are on Broad Brook in Sharon, the White River in South Royalton, and on Stony Brook in Stockbridge.

The New Hampshire projects are on Mink Brook in Etna and on the main stem of the Connecticut River in Piermont.
