Remembering Sir Neville Marriner

Academy of St. Martin in the Fields
Sir Neville Marriner died Sunday at age 92.

Sir Neville Marriner died Sunday at age 92.  One of the most prolifically recorded conductors in history, he founded the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields in 1958 and led it until 2011, when he was named its Life President.  All this week VPR Classical will feature his recordings.

Here's the New York Times obituary.

After graduate studies in musicology at New York University, Walter began his radio career at WNCN in New York. He joined Vermont Public in 1984.
