We hope you, your families, and your friends can join us for this Mexican dinner and silent auction, hosted by the Oaxaca travel students of Spanish 4 and 5.
This event is in support of the MHS Travel Equity Fund, and takes place Wednesday, December 18th, 6–8 pm. Silent auction closes at 7:30 p.m.
This fundraiser will help ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in educational travel experiences. Your presence directly supports our efforts.
There will be only 80 dinners available, so please RSVP to reserve your spot. You are also welcome to stop by for the silent auction only if you prefer. This is a great chance to enjoy a delicious homemade Mexican meal and take care of some holiday shopping in one evening.

Plainfield Arts welcomes the return of Vermont Suitcase Company’s annual holiday production, “The Continuing Adventures of King Wenceslas and His Page Edith,” back for a third year with all-new scenes and guaranteed laughs!
Follow King Wenceslas and his Page, Edith, across the deep and crisp and even snow of Medieval Europe in their comedic search for meaning and goodness. This family-friendly comedy inspired by the classic carol has quickly become a beloved Vermont holiday tradition with its quick-paced physical comedy, stage magic, and puppetry - all performed by four actors!
This concert will feature guest artists the Skylark String Quartet – a wonderful group with Vermont Symphony Orchestra players to join us in an array of evocative pieces for mixed voices and strings including two new works by our Composer-in-Residence, James Stewart.
On the weekend before Christmas, the Onion River Chorus will be singing about “A Perfect Day” - but this perfect day is not about Christmas!
“A Perfect Day” is a 65-minute-long cantata written in 1994 by Plainfield composer Dennis Murphy (1934-2010), for solo tenor, chorus, and five instruments. “A Perfect Day,” along with three short pieces for organ also by Murphy, will be performed by Onion River Chorus, under the direction of Richard Riley.
There will be a reception following the Sunday concert, with proceeds to benefit the Montpelier Food Pantry. Tickets are $25 at the door or in advance at sevendaystickets.com. As always, 18 and under are free.
The Montpelier Contra Dance happens every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturday at the Capital City Grange Hall. We dance to live music with contra dance bands and callers from around New England and beyond. Beginners, singles, and all ages are welcome; all dances are taught. We use gender neutral role terms. There's a newcomers lesson at 7:45 pm and dancing 8-11pm. Some months on 3rd Saturdays there is a Waltzing Session 7-7:45. Check the website or Facebook page. Please bring clean soft-soled shoes. Hollywood, VT at the Randolph Playhouse is a new community-driven film series celebrating Vermont-connected stories and vintage cinematic joy. Festive outfits encouraged: cozy flannel, bright scarves, or a touch of 1950s holiday glamour.
Join us for a joyful holiday performance with Beth Telford and Justin Park on Sunday, December 21 at 2 PM, as they share music from their Cape Breton repertoire alongside festive seasonal favorites. Their blend of fiddle, guitar, and mandolin creates tight interplay, vibrant energy, and a fresh take on traditional tunes.
Beth has been part of Vermont’s traditional music community since 1983 and is known for her deep expertise in Celtic styles, especially the music of Cape Breton, which she studied with legendary fiddler Jerry Holland. She has performed widely throughout the region and has taught fiddle to students of all ages.
Justin Park (mandolin, guitar, vocals) has performed at Chandler Music Hall, New World Festival, and Bluegrass Brunch this year. Audiences may also recognize him from Trifolium, Mountain Dog, or past collaborations with Beth.

Cabot Arts Presents presents the 6th annual Cabot Village 12th Night Celebration on Friday and Saturday, January 2nd and 3rrd in Cabot Vermont. The festival features an exciting array of performing arts and activities for all ages. Twelve events are featured in four venues throughout Cabot Village including concerts, dance, storytelling, theater, arts and crafts workshops, games bonfires, and outdoor activities including a sunset parade.
The concept of the “12th Night” Festival, though a nod to the 12 days of Christmas, is actually a reference to pre-Christian, Celtic, and Roman mid-winter celebrations which marked the end of the old year, and the rebirth of the new year.
Venues in Cabot Village include the Willey Building (town hall) auditorium, the Cabot United Church, and Harry’s Hardware. Outdoor activities will take place on the Cabot Village Common and on the Cabot Trails system.

American music masters Edgar Meyer (bass) and Mike Marshall (mandolin) join together with George Meyer (violin) for a special collaboration usually only heard on the summer bluegrass festival circuit! Expect to hear works from the genre bending Short Trip Home album of many years ago as well as new music written specifically for this tour. Edgar’s son George is charting his own course in the musical world and represents the next generation of artists expressing their unique voices and perspective. He certainly has strong roots!
