Voices For Ukraine: Stories of War & Hope
Voices For Ukraine: Stories of War & Hope
Voices from Ukraine: Stories of War and Hope, a moving and powerful original musical, will be performed in Burlington for one night only at the First Unitarian Universalist Society on Friday, August 22, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.). The performance features five courageous young Ukrainian actors sharing their firsthand experiences of war, resilience and hope through musical theater.
Voices from Ukraine is based on the real stories, letters and reflections of Ukrainian youth who have endured the trauma of war. This unique production brings their voices to life — offering a glimpse into both the devastating toll of conflict and the unbreakable spirit of Ukraine’s youth.
This Burlington performance is part of a limited New England tour aimed at raising awareness and support for Ukrainian children and youth affected by the full-scale Russian invasion.
The musical features five young actors — Dmitry Pohorilovskyi, Bohdana Frantsishkevych, Taisiia Grygorova, Sofiia Kopytko, and Tetiana Yevstihnieieva—all of whom have grown up in Ukraine’s war zone. Voices from Ukraine marks their American theater debut.
Voices from Ukraine is more than a performance! Each 40-minute performance will be followed by:
~A discussion with the cast and creative team.
~A post-show reception with Kyiv Cake and lemonade.
~A meet-and-greet with the Ukrainian actors.
~Updates from Common Man for Ukraine’s latest humanitarian convoy, just back from Ukraine.
Voices from Ukraine is sponsored by two non-profits, Common Man for Ukraine & Arts & Big Hearts
All proceeds from this event will go directly to Common Man for Ukraine’s humanitarian efforts, including food delivery, winter supplies and trauma counseling for displaced and grieving Ukrainian youth.
Since 2022, Common Man for Ukraine, based in New Hampshire, has delivered over 4 million pounds of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, provided mental health support to more than 1,100 children and hosted monthly trauma recovery retreats in Poland.
“Now more than ever, Ukraine’s children need our support"
"We hope this performance touches hearts and inspires action to bring more hope, light and healing into their lives.” ~Lisa Mure, co-founder of Common Man for Ukraine.
