Victoria Redel in Conversation with Robin MacArthur

Victoria Redel in Conversation with Robin MacArthur

Join us for a conversation with acclaimed author Victoria Redel about her highly anticipated new novel, I Am You. Set in 1600s Amsterdam, this unforgettable love story explores art, politics, gender, and identity through the lives of Gerta Pieters, a young girl raised as a boy in service to a Dutch family, and Maria van Oosterwijck, a skilled painter navigating the Golden Age. Inspired by historical fact, Redel’s novel is a meditation on love, artistry, and the perils faced by women in history.

Redel’s I Am You has been recognized as a Bustle Most Anticipated Book of Fall 2025, a Zibby Books Most Anticipated Book of Fall 2025, and a Book Riot Exciting New LGBTQ Historical Fiction Pick. It has received a Publisher’s Weekly Starred Review, been highlighted as an Amazon Editor’s October Best in Literature and Fiction, and named a People’s Best New Book. Foreign rights have sold in Dutch, Ukrainian, UK, and German markets.

The conversation will be hosted by Robin MacArthur, award-winning author and educator, whose debut short story collection, Half Wild, won the PEN New England Award, and whose work has appeared in Orion, LitHub, The Washington Post, and on NPR.

Experience an evening of literary insight, historical intrigue, and a deep dive into the creation of a remarkable novel. ByWay Books will be on site selling copies of I Am You and select backlist by both authors.
