Ira Allen and the Green Mountain Frontier

Ira Allen and the Green Mountain Frontier

Once he was called "the richest man in Vermont,” but years later, he died destitute in Philadelphia and was buried in a pauper's grave without a friend or relative to mourn his passing. He was Ira Allen, brother of famous Ethan Allen and a good friend of Fair Haven's Matthew Lyon.

On Sunday, January 18, at 2:00 p.m., Vermont historian and author, Kevin Graffagnino, will reveal the truth about the man who donated much of the land for the University of Vermont during his address about Ira Allen and the Green Mountain Frontier, at the 41st Annual Meeting of the Fair Haven Historical Society. The presentation will take place at the American Legion Post 49 at 72 South Main Street (Route 22A) in Fair Haven.

Admission and refreshments are free.
