A special focus this week on new music (there's lots of it!) and newly discovered bands encountered at the Folk Alliance International Conference held this February in Montreal.

Melita Lawton-Sedic is one of the featured performers at the annual fundraiser for the Vermont chapter of the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants that will be held on Friday March 22nd at Burlington International Airport. There will be spoken word, a short video, American and Bosnian songs sung by Melita, a Somali Bantu stand up comedian, many dances ranging from Nepali to hip hop to the BHS dance team. The reception from 7-8 features international foods. The show is from 8-9 followed by a dance with a DJ from 9-9:30.
Newfoundland songwriter Matthew Byrne will be performing at Old Songs in Voorheesville, NY on Saturday, March 23rd at 7:30 p.m.
The English duo The Black Feathers will be playing at the Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro on Saturday March 23rd at 7 p.m.
Songwriters Carolann Solebello and Joe Iadanza will be coming to Stage 33 Live on Saturday, March 23 at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7). Stage 33 Live is located at 33 Bridge Street in Bellows Falls.
Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present an evening of traditional Celtic and folk music from Ireland and New England by County Clare-based trio Socks in the Frying Pan and fiddler/singer Zoe Darrow on Sunday, March 24th at 7:30 pm at Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill in downtown Putney.
The annual Sugar On Snow Party with The Sky Blue Boys will be held on Sunday March 24th at Dakin Farm on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh from noon to 3 or so.
The New Black Eagle Jazz Band will be playing at the Chandler in Randolph on Saturday March 23rd
The Secret Sisters, 2018 Folk Grammy nominees, visit The Barre Opera House on Saturday, March 23rd at 7:30 p.m.
There will be a contra dance with David Millstone calling at Tracy Hall in Norwich on Saturday March 23rd from 8-11 p.m. with a teaching session beginning at 7:45.
