Sharon Jones shakes it up in 2010

Thinking of Sharon Jones, a fabulous musician who left us this month, and trying to touch lots of bases with a very busy week of live shows coming up in our area!

This program will air on Sunday November 27th from 7-10 p.m. 

This week's calendar announcements:

The Montpelier Community Gospel Choir will perform on Saturday, December 3rd at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Barre, and on Sunday, December 4th at 4 p.m. at the Bethany United Church of Christ in Montpelier. 

The Monadnock Folklore Society presents the Peterborough, NH First Saturday Contra Dance on December 3rd, featuring Steve Zakon-Anderson calling with Jeff Kaufman on piano and mandolin, Alex Cumming playing accordion and fiddler Louise Bichan.

Patrick Ross will be heating up West Newbury Hall with his band, Hot Flannel on Dec. 2nd, 3rd & 4th.  The weekend includes a Friday night concert, a Saturday night Cajun Dance Party and a Sunday matinee for kids. More at www.hotflannel.com.

The Vermont early music ensemble Anima will be performing on Saturday, December 3rd at 7 p.m. at the  Green Mountain Monastery in Greensboro, and on Sunday December 4th at 4 p.m. at the United Church of Cabot.

DaddyLongLegs CD release party and concert will be held on  Saturday December 3rd at 7:30 p.m. at Sally Burrell’s house 36 Pine St in Bristol. Refreshments provided BYOB Limited seating call 802 453-4613 for reservations.

The Palmer Street Coffeehouse in Plattsburgh presents Eddy Lawrence on Friday December 2nd at 7:30.

Canadian singer-songwriter and storyteller Jory Nash will be in concert at the Ripton Community Coffee House on Saturday, December 3rd at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7.

Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present Darol Anger’s 5th Annual Keepin' It In The Fam Holiday Show on Friday, December 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill in downtown Putney

The Freelance Family Singers of Woodstock invite you to join them as they ring in the holiday season with song on Saturday December 3rd, at 7:00 PM and Sunday December 4th at 3:00 PM at the First Congregational Church, 36 Elm St. in Woodstock. 

Tim Cummings and Jeremiah McLane will be performing at a house concert in Strafford on Friday December 2nd at 7:30 p.m. (For reservations and more info: nancybgrant@gmail.com) and at the New City Galerie in Burlington on Sunday December 4th at 7 p.m.

The Michele Fay Band will be performing at 51 Main in Middlebury on Friday, December 2nd from 8 - 10 p.m. 

Martin Grosswendt and Suzanne Salem-Schatz will be performing on Friday, December  2nd at the Meetinghouse Café in Bennington at 8 p.m., on Saturday, December 3rd  at the Good Times Café in Hinesburg at 8:30 p.m., and on Sunday December 4th at Willey Memorial Hall in Cabot at 3 p.m. Martin will also offer a master class in Delta Blues Guitar at the Summit School in Montpelier from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, December 3rd. 

John Gorka will be at Café Lena in Saratoga Springs on Thursday December 1st. 

Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas will be playing at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe on Saturday December 3rd at 7 p.m.

John, Lila, and Ida Mae Specker will perform a fiddle and banjo concert on Sunday, December 4th  from 2-4 p.m. at the Andover Town Hall. Admission is free and children of all ages are welcome to attend.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
