Vermont's Democrats and Republicans hold their respective conventions this weekend.

This weekend, both the Republican and Democratic parties will hold their state conventions to select delegates to their national conventions.

We take a look at how this process works and how delegates are allocated based on the results of Vermont's presidential primary in March. Conor Casey, executive director of the Vermont Democratic Party, and Jeff Bartley, executive director of the Vermont Republican Party, also discuss some of the key issues that the parties want to include in their platforms this year.

Also on the program, Vermont Press Bureau Chief Neal Goswami updates us on the presidential and statewide political campaigns.

Broadcast live on Friday, May 20, 2016, at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.

Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
Bob Kinzel has been covering the Vermont Statehouse since 1981 — longer than any continuously serving member of the Legislature. With his wealth of institutional knowledge, he answers your questions on our series, "Ask Bob."
