Music of freedom for Martin Luther King's birthday weekend, lots of great local concerts, and, of course, a heartfelt dedication to honor David Bowie.

This program will air on Sunday January 17th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

The third annual Northeast Heritage Music Camp midwinter gathering is coming up on Saturday January 23rd at the Capitol City Grange in Montpelier. The event begins with a concert at 4pm, a potluck at 5:30, a dance at 7, and a jam session at 8:30.  Camp faculty attending:  David Kaynor, Jeremiah McLane, Sarah Hotchkiss, Pete Sutherland, Becky Tracy, and Nicholas Williams

The Nisht Geferlach Klezmer Band will open this year’s Farmers Night Concert Series at the Vermont State House, with a performance on Wednesday January 20th at 7:30 PM in the House Chamber.  Admission is free

The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe is pleased to present the Nobby Reed Project on Saturday, January 23rd at 7:30 p.m.

Vermont bluesman Scott Ainslie will perform at the Sunapee, NH coffeehouse on Friday January 15th from 7 – 9 p.m

Mark Erelli returns to the Tunbridge Town Hall on Saturday, January 23rd at 7:30 p.m. He will also be performing at the Café Lena in Saratoga Springs on Sunday January 24th. 

 The Monadnock Folklore Society presents Sally Rogers and Claudia Schmidt in concert at 8:00 p.m. on Friday January 22nd at the Nelson, NH Town Hall.

Simba, Southern Vermont’s premier worldbeat dance band, will perform a benefit concert on Saturday January 23rd at 7:30 pm at 118 Elliot Street in Brattleboro.  This concert will benefit Brooks Mitchell of South Newfane who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in September.

Katie Trautz and Wooden Dinosaur will perform at Radio Bean’s Lamp Shop in Burlington on Saturday January 23rd from 8-10 p.m.

Burlington musician Tim McKenzie continues his residency at the Juniper Lounge in the Hotel Vermont in Burlington on Friday January 22nd along with Brent Weaver, Pappy Biondo, Matt Schrag , and Pat Melvin .

 The Hot Blues for Cold Nights benefit concert and dance party will take place on Saturday, January 23rd at 7 p.m., at the Manchester Eagles Club on Route 11/30 in Manchester Center – music by Bob Stannard and the Dangerous Bluesmen!

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
