Making Sense Of A Weird Legislative Session

Peter Hirschfeld

House and Senate lawmakers gathered Saturday afternoon to seal the deal on a $30 million revenue package.

"This has probably been the strangest year that I've served in the Legislature," Rep. Tony Klein told reporters as lawmakers left the Statehouse for the year on Saturday night. It began with an unresolved governor's election, and ended with disturbing allegations of sexual assault, and in between several major issues demanded attention from lawmakers and their constituents.

Political reporters Mark Johnson of WDEV, Terri Hallenbeck of Seven Days and VPR's Pete Hirschfeld dissect the just-concluded session and look at the outcomes of issues like health care reform, balancing the state budget, consolidating school districts, and lake cleanup.

Broadcast live on Wed., May 20, 2015 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
