Alice Schroeder, a senior at Burlington High School, will be singing four sublime, arresting originals this Friday night on Friday Night Jazz, and accompanying herself on piano. In between songs we'll discuss her musical influences, compositional approach and her future plans.
Alice has written over 50 songs and enjoys nothing more. The young composer is drawn to chords and loves to incorporate interesting chord patterns in her songs. She is influenced by Neil Finn, Kate Bush, David Bowie and Paul McCartney. Alice sings and plays the piano, guitar and alto saxophone. Alice attended the Berklee Five Week Performance Program last year and will be attending music school this fall.
Broadcast at 9 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015 on VPR.
