Music From Bulgaria To The Bayou, And A New Album From Mary McGinniss

Exciting new releases and a wonderfully diverse selection of upcoming live shows, including a CD release party for a whole platoon of Vermont singer/songwriters and also a solo release by Burlington music master Mary McGinniss.

This program will air on Sunday November 16th from 7-10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

The Brattleboro Women's Chorus's 19th annual fall concert series leads off this week on  Saturday, November 22nd  at 7:30 p.m. at Next Stage Arts in Putney.

Court Street Arts in Haverill, NH presents Long Time Courting at Alumni Hall on Saturday November 22nd at 7:30 p.m.

The Monadnock Folklore Society presents “Celtic Roots of the Music of the American West” a concert program performed by Skip Gorman with Connie Dover at the Nelson, NH Town Hall on Friday, November 21st at 8 p.m.

The Green Mountain Playboys will host a Cajun dance at Charlie O’s in Montpelier on Wednesday November 19th from 8 until 11 p.m.

Mary McGinniss and friends will host a CD release party for her new recording Borderlands at the Good Times Café in Hinesburg on Saturday November 22nd. 

The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe is pleased to present THE GATHERING featuring Will Ackerman and friends on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.

Carol Hausner, Danny Coane, and Colin McCaffrey will perform at the Music Box in Craftsbury on Saturday November 22nd at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, November 19th at 8:00 p.m., Vlada Tomova’s Bulgarian Voices Trio will perform in concert at North End Studio A in Burlington.

Many Vermont-based singer/songwriters will perform at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in Burlington on Tuesday, November 18th at 7:30 p.m. to celebrate the release of the compilation project, Twists & Bends.  Producer Colin McCaffrey will head the house band, and featured artists include Phil Henry, Lowell Thompson, Gregory Douglass, Steve Hartmann, Patrick Fitzsimmons, Casey Dubie, Aaron Flinn, Amber deLaurentis, Lane Gibson, Jr., Jeremy Harple, Bow Thayer, and many more.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
