It's hard to believe, but this week's show marks the 18th anniversary of the first All the Traditions program, which hit the airwaves  on October 13, 1996.  We celebrate with some long-time favorites, and, as always, with lots of great local music and previews of upcoming shows in the VPR listening area.  Thanks to everyone for listening, and for your support of all the fine locally produced programming on VPR and VPR Classical !

This program will air on Sunday October 12th from 7 - 10 p.m.

This week's calendar announcements:

Old Songs in Voorheesville, NY will present Kim & Reggie Harris and Ken Whiteley on Saturday, October 18th at 8 p.m.

The Modern Grass Quintet will perform at the Westford Church on Sunday, Octobere 19th at 4p.m.

Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor will be in concert at Catamount Arts, St. Johnsbury, as part of their concert series on Friday October 17th at 7 p.m.

Come to an exuberant contra dance with Luke Donforth calling and music by Sarah Blair on fiddle and Brendan Taaffe on guitar at the Tinmouth Community Center on Friday October 17th from 8 – 11 p.m.  All dances are taught, and you do not need a partner.  If you are a beginner, come at 8.

The UVM Lane Series presents a free workshop with Mark O’Connor on Friday October 24th at 4 p.m at the University of Vermont’s Southwick Ballroom. The workshop is suitable for everyone – non-musicians included!

Arlo Guthrie will perform at the Barre Opera House on Sunday October 19th at 7 p.m.

Woodchuck’s Revenge will play at the Sunapee Community Coffee House in Sunapee, NH on Friday October 17th at 7 p.m. 
 
Italian Acoustic guitar virtuoso Peppino D'Agostino will be performing at the Medallion Opera House in Gorham, NH on Friday October 17th.

Lewis Franco and the Brown Eyed Girls will perform at White Rock Pizza in East Calais on Friday October 17th at 7 p.m. 

Patrick Fitzsimmons will be giving a solo concert at Wood Wire and Voice at the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh on Friday October 17th at 7 p.m.

August First Bakery in Burlington presents an new Blues Jam Night on the 2nd Tuesday of every month starting with Tuesday October 14th. Pizza, Beer, and Blues! Food starts at 6 p.m., and music starts at 7! Dennis Willmot of Left Eye Jump will M.C. and manage scheduling of players. All serious players, amateur & professional welcome; sign-up at the door.

Welsh Fiddler Sian Phillips is still visiting the VPR listening area, and will be playing at the Welsh heritage festival at Green Mountain College in Poultney on Saturday October 18th and giving a concert at the North End Studio in Burlington on Sunday October 19th.

Café Lena in Saratoga Springs presents North Sea Gas on Friday October 17th at 8 p.m. and Erin McKeown on Sunday October 19th at 7 p.m.

Peter Yarrow is playing at Oscar Peterson hall in Montreal on Saturday October 18th at 7:30 p.m.

Willa Mamet and Paul Miller will perform at Radio Bean in Burlington on Tuesday October 14th at 9 p.m.

The Bondville Boys will be playing at Champlain Orchards in Shoreham on Sunday October 19th from noon until 3.

Young Tradition Vermont presents Les Amis Creole with Cedric Watson, Ed Poullard, and Desiree Champagne on Sunday October 19th at 8 p.m. at Higher Ground in South Burlington.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
