VPR Cafe: Ahoy Matey!

Glistening water, a soft breeze, good company and great food - it all adds up to a relaxing summer day on the water on one of Vermont's lakes. You can serve delicious food on board without spending a lot of time in the galley by doing the prep work at home.

Melissa Pasanen, who writes for the "Savorvore Section" of The Burlington Free Press, has suggestions for simple, cool and elegant food to take on the boat. You'll find more tips and recipes for dining on deck in Melissa's Free Press article.

The VPR Cafe is produced in collaboration with The Burlington Free Press.

Broadcast on Sunday, August 24th, 2014 at 10:50 a.m.

Franny was VPR's Director of Programming & Production.
Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
