Rooms At The Inns, And Bed & Breakfasts

The country inn is the quintessential image of tourism in Vermont, but customers' expectations are changing and so is the experience that innkeepers are trying to provide.

Thursday on Vermont Edition, we look at the marketplace of inns and bed and breakfasts, and what it takes to create a successful travel destination. Our guests are Tim Piper of the Vermont Inn and Bed & Breakfast Association, Commissioner of Tourism Megan Smith, Janice Hurley of Bedandbreakfast.com and Leslie Mulcahy of Rabbit Hill Inn.

Also in the program: Tom Dee, the president and CEO of Southwestern Vermont Healthcare. Late last month, a hospital in North Adams, Massachusetts, closed with only three days notice. That left the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington as the closest regional hospital for many of the 38,000 residents of northern Berkshire County.

Broadcast live on Thurs., May 15, at noon; rebroadcast 7 p.m.
