Shattering The Ice Ceiling: The Adventurous Life Of Jan Reynolds

Jan Reynolds is a world-record breaking skier and adventurer who lives in Stowe. She has climbed some of the highest peaks in the world, often as the only woman in the expedition. She says the success of her adventures depended on learning to embrace her strengths as a woman, rather than imitating the men she traveled with.

We’ll talk to Jan Reynolds about her new book: High-Altitude Woman: From Extreme Sports to Indigenous Cultures.

Also on the program, there have been several recent recalls of child car seats. Chris Bell of the Vermont Department of Health discusses what parents need to do in the wake of the recalls and discusses other car safety issues for children. You can find recall information at www.beseatsmart.org.

And, we'll hear what it takes to make a short film in 48 hours!

Broadcast live on Wednesday, April 9 at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.

Jane Lindholm is the host, executive producer and creator of But Why: A Podcast For Curious Kids. In addition to her work on our international kids show, she produces special projects for Vermont Public.
