The Vermont Coffee Company was born thirty years ago when Paul Ralston fell in love with the coffee roasting process and started roasting beans in the front window of the Bristol Bakery. This year, the company will buy a half million pounds of fair trade green coffee beans and distribute the familiar brown bags of Vermont Coffee Company roasted beans throughout New England.
Melissa Pasanen, who writes for the Savorvore Section of the Burlington Free Press, chronicles Paul Ralston's path and explains his philosophy of 'coffee roasted for friends.'
The VPR Cafe is produced in collaboration with The Burlington Free Press and is made possible on VPR by The Vermont Community Foundation Food and Farm Initiative.
