Should Paid Sick Leave Be The Law?

A paid sick leave requirement for workers is being debated in the statehouse.

A bill being debated in the state legislature would require employers to provide paid sick days to their workers. Backers of the bill say it’s about supporting the health and financial well-being of families. But detractors question how businesses can afford it.

Lindsay DesLauriers, campaign manager for the Paid Sick Days Coalition, and Cathy Davis, vice president of the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, present the two sides of the argument.

Also on the program, Secretary of State Jim Condos discusses the state’s new election system that he says will give Vermonters easier access to information and will improve transparency.

Plus, we listen back to the voices in the news this week.

Broadcast live on Friday, February 7th at noon; rebroadcast at 7 p.m.
