Vermont is Afire in the Autumn!

Celebrating the first day of autumn 2013, getting very excited about a rare local performance by Scottish musical legend Archie Fisher on Sunday October 6th, and trying to cover all the bases when reporting on the amazing quantity and variety of live acoustic music that will happening in the VPR listening area this week!

This week's calendar announcements:

Andy Pitt and friends will perform at Bagitos in Montpelier on Thursday September 26 from 6-8pm.  
Bagitos also will host an afternoon Irish music session this Saturday September 28th  from 2-5pm featuring Sarah Blair, Hilari Farrington Koehler, Benedict Koehler, Katrina VanTyne, and others.

The Modern Grass Quintet will perform at the Vermont College of Fine Arts in
Montpelier with special guests Colin McCaffrey and Patti Casey on Saturday, Sept 28th
at 7:00pm in the Noble Hall Reading Room.

On Saturday, September 28, at 7:30 renowned musician and caller, Dudley Laufman, of
Canterbury, New Hampshire, will play for a contra dance at the Middlebury Municipal
Gymnasium. Dudley will be joined by his wife, Jacqueline, who is also a fiddler, and a number
of local musicians. Dudley’s appearance is being sponsored by the Middlebury
Recreation Department in partnership with the Vermont Folklife Center.

"Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor" will be celebrating the first of autumn at the SaltHill Pub, in Hanover N.H. on Saturday, Sept. 28th from 8-11 PM

VT singer/songwriter Myra Flynn will appear in a special performance with Gregory Douglass at Chandler Music Hall in Randolph on Sunday September 29 at 7:30 PM. An after-party follows the performance in the Esther Mesh Room.

April Verch will perform as part of this years UVM Lane Series on Friday, September 27th at 7:30pm at the UVM Recital Hall in Burlington.

Skip Gorman and Connie Dover will be performing at a house concert near Franconia, NH.on Saturday, September 28th at 7:00 p.m. Please Call Brenda Shannon Adam at 603-823-7061 for directions.

The Battlefield Band will be doing a rare local performance at Court Street Arts at Alumni Hall, Haverhill NH on Saturday September 28th  at 7:30pm.

There will be a Fest Noz – a Breton music and dance party – at the Acworth NH town hall on Saturday September 28th  Crepes and cider at 5:30; dancing at 7:30 – all dances will be taught.  Music by Brad Hurley from Montreal, calling by Claire Boucher.

The Fred Eaglesmith Traveling Steam Show will come to Montreal on Sunday, September 29th
at 8pm at Petit Campus (57 Prince Arthur Street East)

Dan Berggren & Ed Lowman will appear in concert at Caffe Lena in Saratoga on Sunday, September 29th at 7 PM.

The Ormstown Branches and Roots festival will be held in Ormstown, Quebec on September 27th - 29th - for more inforamtion, please check www.ormstownmusicfestival.com

Castlebay, a traditional Celtic duo, will perform at the Immanuel Episcopal Church in Brattleboro on Saturday September 28th at 7:30pm…doors open at 7:00

Woodchucks Revenge will appear at the Dorset VT Farmers Market  Sunday 9/29 at 10:00am

Queen City Hot Club will be playing at the Skinny Pancake in Burlington a 6pm on Friday 9/27 with Boston-based violinist Jason Anick

Antje Duvekot & Seth Glier will perform at the Café Lena in Saratoga Springs on Friday, September 27th @ 8 PM

Brian Peters will be giving a rare local performance at the Burlington Co-Housing East Village community.  The concert is scheduled for 7 pm on Tuesday, September 24th  -- and folks interested in attending could make a reservation by contacting John Patterson at 802-399-2459
 

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
