Vintage Vermont String Bands and Mustaphas

A wild musical sandwich of classy old-time music by the Arm & Hammer String Band, one of Vermont's great acoustic quartets, and a liberal dose of international lunacy courtesy of Ensemble Polaris, an eclectic group Canadian group, and 3 Mustaphas 3, a group of Englishmen disguised as Middle Eastern musicians!

Please note:  This program will air on Sunday, August 18th from 7:00-10:00pm.

This week's calendar announcements:

Bow Thayer & Perfect Trainwreck will perform a free concert as part of the Summer Music Series at Jackson Gore on Friday, August 23.  Grounds open at 5pm, & concerts are slated to run from 6 to 9pm

"Alan Greenleaf and the Doctor" will be appearing at the Groton Bandstand in Groton on Thursday, August 22nd, at 6 PM as part of the Music in the Park Series. Also, they will be at the St. Johnsbury Farmers Market, on Saturday, August 24th, from 9am – 1pm

Gregory Douglass and friends will perform at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe on Saturday, August 24, at 7:30 p.m.

The Cold River Ranters will be returning to Bellows Falls in a joint appearance with The Milk House Heaters on Thursday, August 22. Doors open at 7:30, and the place is the Windham Ballroom.

 The fourth annual Shep Resnik music scholarship benefit concert will  be held at  7:30 PM on Friday evening Aug. 23 at the Valley Players Theater, Main St, Waitsfield.  Put on by the Green Mountain Swing, an 18 piece big band, playing music mostly from the big band era, will appeal to jazz lovers and  
dancers alike.  The scholarship fund, to which all of the band’s net profits are donated, benefits middle and high school music students from the central Vermont area.  Admission is by donation.

The Summer Music series at the Grace Church in Sheldon presents Full Circle on Friday, August 23rd at 7:30 p.m

Next Sunday August 25th Linda Warnaar and Chickweed will perform for brunch at Rosa Flamigos,  Bethlehem NH 

Lewis Franco will be performing with the Brown Eyed Girls and Dono Schabner at the Big Picture Theater in Waitsfield on Wednesday August 21st, and at the Hardwick Farmers Market on Friday August 23rd at 4pm.

Robert Resnik has been the host of All the Traditions, Vermont Public's folk and world music show, since 1996. He is the winner of the 2019 Herb Lockwood Prize In the Arts, an honor that rewards the pinnacle of arts leadership in Vermont and is the recipient of the 2022 Margaret L Kannenstine Award for Arts Advocacy from the Vermont Council of the Arts.
