Dealer.com, a Burlington-based company that does online marketing for car dealerships, has been purchased for almost $1 billion. Government cuts and rising demand for services are presenting challenges to many non-profits, among them The Vermont Foodbank. In its annual appeal for donations the foodbank says it needs to raise $1 million by the end of the year in order to make its budget. Governor Peter Shumlin says he plans to launch a top to bottom review of the way Vermont finances public education.

He began his public radio career in 2007 at WHQR-FM in Wilmington, North Carolina where he served as Morning Edition host and reporter, covering county government and Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base. His work has won several Associated Press awards and has appeared on NPR's All Things Considered, Weekend Edition, and PRI's This American Life. A graduate of the creative writing program at the University of Maine at Farmington, Peter enjoys writing, cooking and traveling.
