The CEO of General Electric was in Rutland yesterday, and Jeffery Immelt says a backlog of orders in their global aviation business means the company’s two manufacturing plants in Rutland should continue to grow and provide more jobs. Officials at the Vermont State Labor Relations Board are counting ballots for an election in which home care workers are voting whether to unionize under the umbrella of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. The chairman of the Texas Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact Commission says the organization is going to honor a 20-year-old agreement that guarantees space for radioactive waste from Vermont in its Texas facility.
