The head of a company that prepared a report about the Vermont Veterans Home says there are perceived problems with the administration of the Bennington facility, but it is "fundamentally a good home." Senator Patrick Leahy is going to be in St. Johnsbury to talk about a plan to help prevent fires that have devastated a number of Vermont communities. The city of South Burlington is moving forward with plans to build its own city center. Plans include a walk-able downtown area with shopping, dining, access to public transit and even affordable housing. Norris "Norrie" Hoyt, a former state representative who also served in top offices in the administrations of both Republican and Democratic Vermont governors, has died.

He got his start as news director at NYU's college station, and moved on to a news director (and part-time DJ position) for commercial radio station WMVY on Martha's Vineyard. But public radio was where Mitch wanted to be and he eventually moved on to Boston where he worked for six years in a number of different capacities at member station WBUR...as a Senior Producer, Editor, and fill-in co-host of the nationally distributed Here and Now. Mitch has been a guest host of the national NPR sports program "Only A Game". He's also worked as an editor and producer for international news coverage with Monitor Radio in Boston.
