Governor Peter Shumlin says some Vermont towns in federally-declared disaster areas are eligible for accelerated payments of state funds to assist with damage from the steady rain and flooding this year. The town of Worchester is considering increased penalties and a greater law enforcement presence to protect two trails that have been damaged by the unauthorized use of motorized off-road vehicles. Officials in Springfield are considering an ordinance that would set up a rental registry. The Department of Vermont Health Access has named a new chief medical officer. The program administers the state's publicly financed or subsidized health insurance programs.
